Overview
The D'Arce choke (also called the Brabo choke) is a no-gi front headlock choke that creates a figure-four around the opponent's neck and trapped arm. It's one of the highest percentage no-gi submissions.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Establish Front Headlock
Get front headlock position with your opponent's head and one arm trapped. This often happens during scrambles or failed takedowns.
Step 2: Thread Your Arm
Thread your choking arm through, with your bicep on one side of their neck and forearm on the other. Your arm goes under their armpit.
Step 3: Lock the Figure-Four
Reach your choking arm through and grab your own bicep with that hand. Your other arm comes over their back to complete the lock.
Step 4: Adjust Position
Step over their back or go to your side. The angle and position affect the effectiveness.
Step 5: Finish the Choke
Squeeze everything together - bring your elbows close, expand your chest, and apply pressure through the lock.
Key Points

Common Mistakes

- Mistake: Loose figure-four lock
- Mistake: Wrong body position - can't finish
- Mistake: Letting them posture out
FAQ
Q: What's the difference between D'Arce and Anaconda? A: The arm positioning is reversed. D'Arce goes under their armpit, Anaconda goes over their arm.
Q: Can I do this in the gi? A: Yes, but it's primarily a no-gi technique. Gi friction makes it harder.
